March bandcamp Friday

The power is out at my house, so felt like  perfect time to make my lil recommended list for this week's bandcamp Friday!

Daisies - "Great Big Open Sky"

Maybe it's deeply lame for me to suggest something I'm doing PR for but I DONT CARE, this record rules. Mixing 90s adult contemporary pop that have vague dancey beats with production influences of William Orbit/ Aphex Twin with hints of Saint Etienne Daisies have crafted a unique pop record that should appeal to nerds like me and poptimists. Vals vocals are warm, the songs bounce along with earnest abandon and idk man, this is POP music has its meant to be.

Sharp Pins - "Turtle Island"

Kai from Lifeguard comes through with a short LP that is a blast of lofi jangle pysch pop. It you dig Syd Barrett or West Coast Art Pop Experimental Band with hints of GBV or Elephant 6 you'll love this like me.

Richter Band - "Smetana"

Meditative homespun ambient ala Woo, The Same and Popol Vuh.  Most songs are spacious and drony in a very mesmerizing way. It's perfect for headphones or reading Graham from Blurs memoir.

Don Cherry - "Roundtrip 1977"

Actually mind blowing this has never been heard before, it's absolutely gorgeous spiritual jazz from the obvi GREAT Don Cherry. The songs pulse with so much life. The first track is a droning piece with the with trading sax and trumpets poking in through the mix, with subtle synth sounds that bloom up, it's just immmmmmmmmmmmmersive. The bass climbs the frets in the haunting way, and it's explodes for a moment around 7 minute mark....yes yes yes, just in awe.

Faust - "Punkt"

Did you know Faust released a lost album last year? I certainly didn't, and it rules. It's loud, in yr face drone rock that pummels a the senses! Faust has always been loud and dark bit this feels like a real crystallization of the work.
